permissions problem of some sort. The packages are there, they just
can't be accessed because something has changed the access rights.
Does sox or audacity work for converting to mp3?
Do you have lame and libmad installed? These are other libraries
that allow encoding and playing mp3s. I can't think about how they
could be the cause of your problem, just suggest them as a wild
possibility.

Install all the codecs again acording to your desktop enviroment:KDE:
1.- yum -y install xine-lib-extras xine-lib-extras-freeworld k3b-extras-freeworld
GNOME:
1.- yum -y install gstreamer-plugins-bad gstreamer-plugins-bad-free-extras gstreamer-plugins-bad-nonfree gstreamer-plugins-ugly gstreamer-ffmpeg
