I'm not using samba, I have no windows machines. I deleted the printer
then added it back and then it worked.

Incidentally, the same physical printer is a duplex printer so I have a
single-page queue and a duplex queue set for it. The problems I was
having were with the single-page queue. The duplex was printing fine.
After deleting and adding back the single-page queue all is well.
