Have you uninstalled Totem? It can cause conflicts with other installed media players. Have you checked that gecko-mp is enabled in Chrome. When I was testing Chromium, I discovered that not all plugins were. And Chromium listed ALL plugins on my system both 32-bit & 64-bit even though I was testing the 32-bit Chromium.
