I believe the Macs also use cups for printing. My internet
connection with the hurricane disturbing the path at the Texas
end made my crossword printing effort too difficult to evaluate
performance this morning. But only my three printers showed up
in the Firefox print menu this morning, don't know why it is
different than yesterday but I must have done something? Cups
still shows all the printer entries but not the system addresses
for the Macs. Apparently those only show up when they are turned
on? I will have to look into that. Everyone is out of the house
and the other boxes are shut off presently.

The crosswords I'm having trouble with require Flash which
        probably doesn't simplify things either.
Presently only this computer and 192.168.1.6 are turned on and
cups lists both of them. Obviously there are some minor
differences in how I configured them in the other computer. I
generally show this room as the "asylum."

        All mine look like: socket://192.168.1.3:9100

        Cups shows the 2170 as:

            Description: HL-2170W series
            Location: Asylum
            Driver: Brother HL-5140 Foomatic/hpijs (grayscale, 2-sided
            printing)
            Connection: socket://192.168.1.29:9100
            Defaults: job-sheets=none, none media=na_letter_8.5x11in
            sides=one-sided
