I'm not familiar with Windows 2008, but if all you need is to run rdesktop 
(RDP) over SSL you might take a look at 'stunnel':

http://www.stunnel.org/

A quick Google ('stunnel rdp "windows 2008"') suggests that some folks 
have been successful in using RDP with 'stunnel'.
