When browsing the internet with firefox it sometimes takes 5-10 seconds to render very basic webpages. The CPU usage is at maximum in this case. It feels like working on a x486 not only with firefox, but also with a lot of other applications (nautilus, etc). I'm working on an AMD Athlon XP 2800+ with 3Gb RAM. Ok, it's old, but still usable to browse the web and work with a file manager. I've experienced this with earlier fedora versions, too. The solution was to install the proprietary drivers. Do you have any hints/links about how to speed up nouveau? Maybe any Options in /etc/X11/xorg.conf that enable some hardware accelarations? Btw. I'm not talking about 3D accelaration but 2D.
