i do not assume, but i do presume.

because, if 'locate' does not produce anything, i run 'sudo updatedb'.
so, if 'locate' still does not find what i am looking for, it is not there.

or, also,

 'yum [provides | whatprovides] feature'
 'yum search [string]'
 'rpm --query $'

'which' and 'whereis' do not find doc files because they only check
thru $PATH. so if op is looking for something other that a script or
a command, they will not find.
