Type:

file the-file-you-downloaded.bin

That will tell you what kind of file it is. If it says "shell script
text" then type:

sh the-file-you-downloaded.bin

However are you sure you need the Abode PDF reader? In most cases you
don't. Linux has several free programs that can read PDF files, e.g.
okular or evince.
