Dear all,
I'm using FC8 and I download the kernel source 2.6.33.2 from
kernel.org and build it by myself but, everytime I try to boot from
the new kernel I met the error "No Volume Groups Found".
I tried everything I could but failed still.
Would you please give me any idea?
Thanks in advance.
Fedora 8 hasn't been supported for two years or more. Most people here
will probably recommend you upgrade to F12 and try again. If you need
more stability, then use RHEL or Centos.
IIRC, the kernel that came with F8 used LVM1 and the 2.6.3x kernels are
going to want LVM2 (using mapper).
See http://tldp.org/HOWTO/LVM-HOWTO/lvm2faq.html for details on how to
convert over, and once you do, get F12. F8 is long, long dead.
