Yes, it would be useful. When troubleshooting X issues, it is always a good idea to post the output of xrandr and the contents of xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log, preferably simultaneously because the information in them is typically correlated. Try to change the default depth above (on both lines) and post all three things in full so we can examine them.
