Yes, I'm connecting to gmail from this system that I'm trying to update. I even tried OpenDNS with I still have the same problem. I don't what is causing this problem.

Almost every time I've seen someone with the error you report in your
initial post it is due to either a network misconfiguration or a DNS
problem.
