No, but it adds to the drop-down list of applications to open the file with. I'm not sure if you can customise what Evolution uses with the plug-in's built-in play feature. I added mplayer as a player just by putting in the command line for it into Nautilus' open-with application for different types of files that it can play. I did this a while ago, I don't recall whether I just typed in mplayer, or the full path.
