Hello Jim
Go to "Right Click on the Desktop | Desktop Settings"  You will see a see a 
section on the window that pops up called "Wallpaper Type:"  Change that to 
"Slideshow" and you should be good to go.  On my KDE4, "Slideshow" is at 
the very bottom of the "Wallpaper Type" drop down menu.
