I suspect the i686 build of the F12 kernel update (rpm dated Nov 24 16:00 2009) may be broken. I got a bunch of error messages during the reboot, notably a missing modules.dep. After booting is complete, networking doesn't work.

When I checked the directory where modules.dep should have been I saw there are lots of other modules.* files missing:

# ls -l /lib/modules/2.6.31.6-145.fc12.i686.PAE

I checked another 64-bit system updated at the same time and its new kernel appears to be complete. I've never seen this happen before.
