Possible.
I happened to have an old Nvidia libGL around and it caused a
lot of crashes with Google Earth.
(T61p, F10, 32bit)

rpm -qa|grep -i nvidia
locate libGL
ldd `which googleearth`

You have to understand what Google Earth is really running.
