Just tried that (I ran "su -", then "nautilus&", browsed about and quit
the program), and got the same results (just so you know you're not the
only one to see the same problem).

There's a fault, and you start by sending the bug report, or by creating
a bugzilla entry, yourself, at <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/>.  Did you
make a bug report?

In the meantime, if you still want to use a graphical file manager as
root, you could try one of the alternatives.  e.g. emelfm2
