Right. No need for LVM if you just want to mirror the drives.  

LVM has some nice things that you may or may not need like: resizing logical 
volumes, create lg's from volume groups that span multiple disks, create 
snapshots etc.  And of course, there's the management overhead (you need to 
understand the concepts) and the comands if you need to recover your 
setup ..but for LVM there's a nice GUI that can help you manage it.
