Terabyte disks are about $100. Erasing it to satisfy the corporate policy isn't possible for that much money. Don't throw the company's money away, throw the drive away because it is cheaper.

As for throwing the drive away, buy a set of small torx screwdrivers and take it apart. Keep the platter until it is scratched and dirty (you needn't remove the oxide, just make it too rough for the head to fly over). As a nice side effect you get some remarkable magnets.
