So far we've established that pulsaaudio is started when you log in and that you can turn it off by going to System->Preferences->Personal->Sessions if you have F10 and System->Preferences->Startup Applications if you have F11. I'd like to know where (which file) the information is stored in and what program starts it. gdm? gnome? gconf?
