The './' is the name of the current directory where the files are
located.  If you prefer not to see it, use:

]$ find . -maxdepth 1 -type f ! -name '.*' -exec basename {} \;
]$ find . -maxdepth 1 -type f ! -regex '^.*/\..*' -exec basename {} \;

exactly as written here.
