How to kill Kpackagekit update notification

Kpackagekit persistently pops up notices, overlaying whatever is on-screen. Clicking the 'do not notify me' link does not do anything.
How can I kill this?
It's another of the little things I classify as "we're smarter than you are, so we are going to force this on you for your own good"...
