the failure is a result of an alsa driver bug causing lennart's glitch-free code to break.
(as an aside, you should consider reading about the g-f technology, sounds very cool).

anyway, the fix is to disable the g-f feature. to do this, in /etc/pulse/default.pa,

change, ...

load-module module-hal-detect

to

load-module module-hal-detect tsched=0
