Maybe the proprietary ones will work better, if you're fiddling with drivers anyway? I have F11 installed on my old laptop which has a radeon mobility 9600. If I instal the vendor supplied latest driver (which has been relegated to the legacy heap), and then I run googleEarth, the machine freezes up. So, I have uninstalled it and am content with the driver supplied by Xorg. It is not the fastest display driver - but at least it does not freeze up. Cheers, JD |
