Well, sorry but it works for me.

F11 + gnome but I'm also using GNU Emacs 23.1.50.10 (i686-pc-linux-gnu,
GTK+ Version 2.16.2) from cvs.

[bpm]$ rpm -qa | grep -i aspell
aspell-en-6.0-10.fc11.i586
aspell-0.60.6-5.fc11.i586
aspell-devel-0.60.6-5.fc11.i586
aspell-es-0.50-18.fc11.i586

[bpm]$ rpm -ql aspell-en-6.0-10.fc11.i586
/usr/lib/aspell-0.60/american-w_accents.alias
/usr/lib/aspell-0.60/american-wo_accents.alias
/usr/lib/aspell-0.60/american.alias
/usr/lib/aspell-0.60/british-ise-w_accents.alias
