Similar problem here:
I have to take care that, whenever booting, a (written) cdrom is in the
DVD-RW drive, in order for the drive to be recognized as such.
Otherwise, the drive is not linked into /dev/xyz.
After that, however, no problems in reading/burning cdroms/dvds.
