Mark, In *nix space, all files that start with a dot are classed as 'hidden' files. Thus, they won't be normally viewable. It may be possible to change the view settings in your chosen application, but this probably changes from application to application. Subject: files which start with a dot and firefox gmail Hello, When I am using gmail in firefox and I am trying to attach files , I cannot see files which start with a dot (for example, pressing attach a file and navigating to /root does not show files like .tcshrc). Is there a way to overcome it (except of course making another copy of the file which starts with a dot)?
