The "Search for files..." menu option in the Nautilus File Browser invokes gnome-search-tool. You can get more info on it from "man gnome-search-tool" and if it's not installed you can install it with "yum install gnome-utils"

This is a basic GUI to the command line tools "find", "grep" and "locate".

If you are looking for something which continually crawls files, mail, firefox, document contents etc., then try "yum install beagle*" and then investigate /usr/bin/beagle-search
