kdesettings virtual display

I guess I have one more question on this...

F10 - i386 - KDE

I'm sure that if I create an xorg.conf, I could create a virtual display
of 1024x768 for my little Acer Aspire One but without it, I can only get
a max of 1024x600. Is there a way of creating a virtual display size
larger than the 'real' display size within the KDE framework or can this
only be done via xorg.conf?
