A bug in kernel installation

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

  Hello guys,
           I just want to report a bug (or at least a feature) in
yum update.
   I have a symbol in my login scripts, maybe not a clever one:
   LIB=/home/murray/wjmlib
   for my private libraries.

yum install kernel-XXX says:

....
Running rpm_check_debug
Running Transaction Test
Finished Transaction Test
Transaction Test Succeeded
Running Transaction
  Installing     : kernel
1/1
cp: cannot stat `/usr//home/murray/wjmlib//plymouth/text.so': No such
file or directory
cp: cannot stat `/usr//home/murray/wjmlib//plymouth/details.so': No such
file or directory
The default plymouth plugin (.so) doesn't exist
========================================================================== Leaving rpm code ==========================================================================

Installed:
  kernel.i686
0:2.6.27.9-159.fc10

Complete!

So if you do don't look hard you just see done. But Woops. This kernel
will not boot, with or without graphics. OK, I have remove the $LIB
symbol, but it seems a shame that 1 user symbol breaks updating...
           Bill
