For instance, most DVD players can only play MP3 files from a disc, they don't handle other audio file types. But some will only do that from a CD-ROM, they'll try to play all DVDs as DVD-Video, and fail to do anything with the discs that aren't. I've yet to find a DVD player that handles DVD-audio (that's a specific DVD format), nor have I noticed anything that will create them.
