I can't speak for Fedora 10 specificly but I used to use a command called
"cdplay" which I think played CDs using the drive's own onboard facility. You
could plug headphones into the CD drive audio jack, or hook the drive audio
out to your sound card I believe (then you need to hook some more software to
your sound card of course).
