Speaking of starting X sessions, if you use the default gdm
login screen, the only way you'll be able to run some very
simple session out of your own ~/.xsession script is if you first
do a "yum install xorg-x11-xinit-session". Then you need to pick
"User Script" from the login methods that appear at the bottom
of the screen where you aren't looking after you select which user
to login as.
