KDE 4 does not support fake transparency hacks anymore. You have to
enable "desktop effects" (i.e. KWin compositing) in systemsettings (or use
compiz-kde, but KWin is preferred) to get support for transparency.

Unfortunately, when I enabled the desktop effects,
my desktop turned upside down, and all the menu texts are writen
back to front. No way to revert, because I cannot click on any option.

Reverting yesterday backup using Backuppc ...
