Yes! Sounds just like what happened to one of my servers. I spent hours trying to figure it out.

In the end I figured out that there has been some change to the SCSI initialisation code such that it hangs trying to detect the DVD drive if it doesn't have a disc in it. Try putting a CD into your CD drive and boot again.
