Yes, it should be safe ('safe' of course, relatively speaking), you'd probably want to try using the latest kernel version for their respective releases.


Any issues? E.g. if you update, will the last one updated always make
itself the default boot?
As long as you customize the file '/etc/sysconfig/kernel' for both installations, there shouldn't be a problem.
