What do you turn off and on exactly? The computer or the hard drive?

If you're having the same trouble I am I'll be very happy to know I'm
not the only one. I was just going to make an inquiry myself- I had a
corrupted external hard drive which I put down to a stuffed disk, but
then I've been having trouble with scanning on the usb as well, plus my
usb disk had some trouble too. Basically the same error in the logs when
it comes to file systems, but none with the scanner issues except for an
io read error from xsane. I have to reboot to continue working.

I thought it might have been my hardware, but a quick rethink of diag
procedures made me consider software bug- I'd say this confirms it. Any
thoughts?
