Unfortunately, acroread is the only pdf reader that is capable of displaying
some files.  Certain items (mostly graphics) disappear from some pages or
come out as black boxes using evince, kpdf or xpdf.

I would love to use one of those instead of acroread, but my attempts to do so
have been failures so far.  I create pdf files using Scribus which get
transferred to plates for printing on presses and acroread is equivalent to
nuking the site from orbit.  ("It's the only way to be sure.")
