This is my preferred method with the DVD image on a local server. For F8 it is /images/bootdisk.img and for F9 is is /images/efidisk.img. (Both relative to the DVD root directory.) I have not used the F9 version yet, but I have built a bootable USB stick with the F9 live CD. I hope this helps.
