Do you mean build the source and install it overtop the RPM or do you mean uninstall the RPM then build and install from source...

Or is it possible to compile and use the patch installed from source overtop
my RPM?

Any help would be great.

Thanks.

Your best bet is to do what I did with my FC6 boxes and get the latest Source RPM (9.5.0 or thereabouts) install it and see if you can build it on the FC2 box.

You might need to satisfy some dependencies and devel packages, but it should work.  Maybe.  That's an old OS.
