Try to create another user and see if KDE is okay.  After it is ok, you can trash the ~/.kde  directory and recreeate everything or copy it all recursively before you trash it
$ mkdir -p ~/.kdeold
$ cp ~/.kde/* ~/.kdeold

This is what I would try.  Maybe there might be better suggestions so you can wait a little.
