      Sometimes I then also get the site; sometimes not.
Anybody know what goes on here? I don't even see what to google
for ...

      Btw, it has only recently started to pull this stunt.

I had the same problem. When the geckolib was fixed and Firefox updated, I had Firefox running. This interfered with proper update in some way. I tried going to runlevel 3 and then restarting X but it didn't fix it. So I rebooted and everything is now fine. You might just try logging out as a user before rebooting. But it seems to be more fundamental than that.
