I tried to use the man pages but it seems that it is either
missing, broken, or not initialized?
Doing:
+ Apropos grub
shows a list of grub man pages available but:
+ man grub
says it is missing.
Doing:
+ man man
says it is also missing
What am I doing wrong? Do I have to reinitialize the
man pages database or something like I used to do in
ages past?
Have you set some variable like MANPATH that prevents man from finding
man pages? I would doubt that you have managed to remove all of your
man pages at once. You can verify the grub package using rpm:
rpm -V grub
If it returns nothing, then the package contents are installed
correctly, with the man page at /usr/share/man/man8/grub.8.gz
It returns nothing. Did you get my latest posting saying that this
problem occurs if you are doing this as a su - or su -l user. Otherwise
it is fine.
