In Fedora 8, it got installed by default, now it did not.  Still I got it since yesterday as your post recommends :)

[olivares@localhost Documents]$ javac ThreeN2.java 
[olivares@localhost Documents]$ java ThreeN2
This program will print out 3N+1 sequences
for starting values that you specify.

Enter a starting value;
To end the program, enter 0: 59
The 3N+1 sequence starting from 59

      59     178      89     268     134
      67     202     101     304     152
