DNS: Can public and private data be hosted by the same server?

1) Is it possible to "consolidate" the public and private
DNS information in the same server?

2) If (1) is not possible, then is it possible to create a
virtual server with two interface IP's; one interface
to host local private data (10.0.0.0 or 192.168,x,x)
and the other interface to host public IP data?

My goal is to have two DNS servers for redundancy,
instead of 4 physical servers.

Thanks-
Dan
