From reading the man page, it looks like vol_id will find it for you,
but I do not have it in F8. (I have to find time to install F9.) Mikkel
I'm running F8 and I have vol_id in /lib/udev, but I don't recall if I
did something specific to make it be there (eg install something ).
I'm just posting this in case you may have overlooked it.
