f9 boot hang at "starting system message bus"

I installed f9 on a Dell Inspiron 530.  It booted up the first time
I tried but after some post install configuration and a few reboots
(ran yum update, changed selinux to permissive, disabled firewall,
enabled LDAP authentication), it no longer boots successfully.  It
hangs for 5-10 minutes at "starting system message bus".  I suspect a
problem with LDAP based on some google searches, but I know
LDAP was enabled before several reboots when it didn't hang,
so I don't know what has changed.

Any suggestions?

PS - This is the 3rd system I've attempted f9 installation on and
I'm 0 for 3.  One system has X crash every hour.  One system
had eth0 problems and had kerneloops suck 100% of the
CPU and was really slow even after disabling kerneloops.  And
this one takes forever to boot.  I've installed every release of redhat/
fedora going back ~12 years and I don't think I've ever had
this many different problems on so many different systems.  Are
my experiences with f9 a statistical anomaly?
