Anyone got a stable site that they use ??

Thanks

Depending on your setup, you can probably get it from your firewall/router and/or cable/DSL modem. If you are using something like PPPoE directly from your Linux box, you can check the IP of that interface...

I'm using a 2WIRE783 DSL router, but how would you do that ?

Well, I have my modem set to do the PPPoE, so I just grab the IP address from the status page of the modem. Here is what I use: (There may be a setup in the default config file for your router.)

## To obtain an IP address from FW status page (using fw-login, fw-password)
use=fw, fw=192.168.0.1/, fw-skip='IP Address' # found after IP Address
#

The information is also available from http://www.routerlogin.com/RST_status.htm but that requires a username and password.
