I'd click on the video window and it would simply disappear. Checking about:plugins showed flash-plugin but not swfdec (maybe it's not a plugin, I don't know). In any case, the problem went away when in a moment of inspiration I removed swfdec. Note that 1) the two flash systems apparently cannot co-exist, but no conflict is reported, and b) there was no obvious way I would have found out that swfdec had anything to do with my problem.
