When I booted F8/Gnome today, my desktop was littered with icons for the folders and files from my home directory. My installation is pretty much vanilla with regard to the desktop; previously all that was displayed was device icons. I am not aware of having changed any preferences. As I boot every am, I know what was installed yesterday. selinux-policy - 3.0.8-98.fc8.noarch selinux-policy-devel - 3.0.8-98.fc8.noarch selinux-policy-targeted - 3.0.8-98.fc8.noarch kernel-devel - 2.6.24.5-85.fc8.i686 kde-filesystem - 4-14.fc8.noarch kernel-headers - 2.6.24.5-85.fc8.i386 audit-libs - 1.7.2-5.fc8.i386 libraw1394 - 1.3.0-6.fc8.i386 gtk-sharp2 - 2.10.3-2.fc8.i386 libsmi - 0.4.5-3.fc8.i386 util-linux-ng - 2.13.1-2.fc8.i386 audit-libs-python - 1.7.2-5.fc8.i386 audit - 1.7.2-5.fc8.i386 psmisc - 22.6-2.1.fc8.i386 kernel - 2.6.24.5-85.fc8.i686 perl-libs - 4:5.8.8-39.fc8.i386 perl - 4:5.8.8-39.fc8.i386 perl-ExtUtils-Embed - 1.26-39.fc8.i386 libgnomeprint22 - 2.18.4-1.fc8.i386 libgnomeprint22-devel - 2.18.4-1.fc8.i386 perl-devel - 4:5.8.8-39.fc8.i386 Any thoughts on how to clean the desktop?
