so, I agree with you. Are you using anything from the stdc++ library? Can you remove it from your link command?

I might be wrong, but I don't believe f77 can link against libstdc++ at all. If the object files require stdc++ then I doubt they where compiled using f77, and g++/gcc should be used to link instead.
